Many people dream about ways to make good money right from their home so that they can quit their office jobs. The Internet can make this dream a reality. The Future of Affiliate Marketing

When affiliate programs first appeared on the internet circa 1996, the internet marketing community thought they had found Nirvana. On one hand the owners of these affiliate programs thought they had an army of sales people working for them around the clock strictly on commission. On the other hand, the affiliates thought they had found their pot of gold.

They were made to believe that this was the fastest and easiest way ever to make money. Needless to say, they were both dead wrong.Most affiliates failed because they believed all they had to do was sign up for as many affiliate programs as possible, place a few affiliate banners on their site and the checks would begin pouring in. They figured the companies would take care of the rest and they could sit back and enjoy the sound of the cash registers ringing out of control. This is akin to the "build it and they will come" mentality.

This was a direct result of what they were being told by the program owners. In essence, these program owners shot themselves in the foot by tring to sell their affiliates the dream instead of providing them with real world helpful marketing strategies that would have made both parties real money.However, there was a very small percentage of people who were making a lot of money with affiliate programs. These individuals were ambitious. They understood they had to work to achieve the dream. They also knew that in order to make money they would have to invest both money and time in smart advertising and promotion.

They did it all and the result was an astounding six figure income for most of these Super Affiliates.Many of these Super Affiliates belonged to affiliate programs that were managed by people who came from a direct marketing or sales background and knew how to motivate their sales force. They provided incentives, bonuses, recognition and much more in order to encourage maximum effort. These techniques were not rocket science, rather they were techniques taken right out of the traditional offline sales environment.

The goal of every program should be to have and nurture as many Super Affiliates as you can. So how do you turn an average affiliate into a Super Affiliate? The onus lies on the program owner to motivate affiliates and create program loyalty. In order to do this, the owner or manager has to develop an affiliate program that is exceptional, filled with incentives to succeed, provides a support network that guides affiliates along the path to success and delivers multiple streams of revenue for the affiliate.

So the ideal affiliate program would incorporate:

1) A Team Focus. This strategy originates from the traditional offline sales world. By bundling groups of affiliates together you are able to create teams of sales people who support and help each other promote, participate in co-op advertising, generate leads, and close sales. Since everyone is sharing in the wealth, it creates a tremendous incentive to function as a team.

2) A Front End/Entry Level Product and Multiple Backends from which affiliates can also profit. You want to make your front end product attractive and affordable so you increase your opportunity to sell more on the backend. The profits from backend sales have traditionally been reserved for the program owner. If you expect affiliates to stick around when they are just earning one time commissions on front end sales you are crazy. However, if you offer a share in the backend profits or residual income you will be on your way to creating an army of loyal Super Affiliates for life.

3) Incentives for Selling. Offer bonuses to your super affiliates. Run sales contests. Offer higher commissions to affiliates who meet a certain sales quota for the month. Recognize your affiliates efforts by recommending them in your newsletter, promoting them on your website and/or letting them buy your products at a discount.

What affiliates can do to become Super Affiliates:

1) Affiliates can look to their program manager or owner for support in helping them succeed. Ask to be mentored by a Super Affiliate. Find out what they are doing that makes them successful and model after them. Look to join affiliate programs that promote a team focus so you can benefit from the support of others.

2) Use Minisites to draw in highly targeted traffic in order to pre-sell the products and services of the affiliate program and capture names and email addresses of your prospects. This is one of the secrets of true Super Affiliates. They never send traffic directly to their affiliate link, instead they create a one or two page site that describes the benefits of purchasing the product or service of the affiliate program. Before sending your prospects away from this minisite, you should have a method of capturing their names and email address in place so you can follow up on them later in order to increase your sales and response rate.

3) Write an endorsement for the affiliate program in your own words. Use the product and service so you can wholeheartedly offer a testimonial. People do not buy products and services, they buy results. What this program will do for them. If you tell people what it has done for you and will do for them, you will greatly increase your sales percentages.

4) Finally, don't be an affiliate program junkie. Stick to a core of programs and promote them successfully. This is where many affiliates make a mistake, if they don't make commissions fast enough, they are off to the next program. Try to find one or a few programs that you truly believe in, (ideally they should meet ALL the criteria of the ideal program above) and remain loyal to them.If you do all of these things, your status as a Super Affiliate is virtually guaranteed.When program managers and affiliates come together like this they create a win/win situation for everyone involved. This is when an affiliate program is a success!

Listening Can Make You Rich!

Lets define LISTENING as it applies to your network marketing business: Listening is not just HEARING, it is...

A method of tuning in to the communication process initiated during your business activities.
The art of applying oneself to hearing something from another person in hopes of sponsoring them or retailing your product.

To place your undivided attention to something important to your business survival.
To take notice or heed some communication with another so as not to waste your time or theirs.
A listening post: a strategic position for gathering information.

I love this last point. It is extremely important for you to visualize yourself as the person in charge of manning the "listening post" opposite the person you are talking to. Your mission is to gather information first, then share data second—not the other way around.

How do you know what your prospects hot buttons are? How do you know what will motivate them to take action (buying your product or sponsoring with you)? Are you the type of person that just "brain dumps" everything you know about your company hoping you hit one of their hot buttons in the process?

This last question reflects a method that is the most widely used in sharing MLM business opportunities, and it's the least effective. This is the, "throw-it-up-against-the-wall-and-see-if-anything-sticks" approach. Sure network marketing is a numbers game, but intelligently planned presentations are the key to your ultimate success. Being lucky is great, but developing the art of listening is critical to your overall success in this industry.

Career professional network marketers are accomplished listeners. Every personal development teacher I know suggests that one of the key ingredients to achieving success is by developing the ability to listen to others.

I know you probably agree with me, but wouldn't you also agree that it is hard for most people to be a good listener? On a scale from one to 10, how would you honestly rate your listening skills? We all need to keep reminding ourselves that we have two ears and only one month. God knows best: he designed us for success, our egos, our selfishness, our wanting the center-stage, our wanting to continually be heard just keeps us from taking an interest in what others are saying to us. We keep overriding our eardrums.

Can we solve this problem? Sure.

Let me share with you how I discovered I could become a better listener. Maybe you'll find it worthwhile in working your business. Here's the secret:


LEARN TO ASK GOOD QUESTIONS!

It's really that simple. The better your questions, the more successful you will become at listening to the thoughts and concerns of others.

In the sales or "sharing" environment, most distributors find themselves talking endlessly about their business opportunity. This is a HUGE mistake. People (your customers or potential clients) do not want to hear you go on and on about how great you are, how great your company or product is, or how miserable their life is without your help.

Take this fun test: Join a group of your friends that are sharing a conversation and count the number of declarative sentences they use in a row before they ask a question. A good rule of thumb that I learned from one of my mentors, David Cooper, was three to six declarative sentences followed by a question.

Every time you ask someone a meaningful question about what you're talking about, their mind has to subconsciously review what you have said before they respond. This technique ensures that your party is listening to you and that they understand the point you are attempting to communicate to them.

Don’t Make This Mistake When Choosing a Home Business

The Biggest mistake people make is that they believe all the hype.

Maybe the home-based business industry is to blame. After all, you can’t open up a work at home magazine without seeing “Make $10,000 this month!” or “I made $5,000 in one day, and you can too!” All of these ads make it seem easy to make money instantaneously with little to no work or training.

I love the ad that pictures the guy with several exotic automobiles and a plane in front of a mansion. He looks so average and ordinary, so you think to yourself, if he can do it, so can I-or can you?

What you don’t know is if the person in the ad who supposedly made all this money was willed or sold that distributorship (i.e. business). A lot of companies allow you to will or sell your distributorship. So maybe that guy or gal got a “head start” by being given a successful business to begin with.

Then there are people who have been in this industry for over 30 years. For them, achieving great wealth is easier because they have a lot of experience doing so under their belt. A newbie coming into the industry with no experience or training cannot expect to be on the same level playing field as a veteran network marketer.

Some people come from other companies and bring their entire downline with them to the new company. They immediately jump to the top of the pay plan. It happens all the time. Look closely at the top income earners in your future company or any company. You’ll find a few people who have done this.

Another thing to consider is that some of the top income earners in these companies have big advertising budgets. If someone has a budget of $5k per month, for example, you can best believe that they have a better chance of growing their business faster than if their budget was only $300 per month.

As you can see there are so many variables to consider when you find yourself staring starry-eyed at all those hyped-up ads. Keep in mind seeing isn’t always believing. Get the story behind the story.

Granted there are “one hit wonders” in every company, but that isn’t the norm. If you want to make the big money, you have to know what it really takes to succeed. You should know how much product you have to sell, how many recruits ordering product you have to sponsor, and most importantly, what skills you should possess or be willing to learn. It’s good to have a marketing system already planned and in place when you start your business. Be realistic and make out a list of criteria you want your future company to have-and stick to it if it’s important to you. Choosing a business doesn’t have to be difficult, but it can be if you believe all the over-the-top ads!

There are many people who are selling their services online and their clients are from all over the world.

We call them freelance writers, translators, graphic designers and they can be seen on many freelance sites such as Rent-A-Coder.com or eLance.com.

To be in business is easy. You’ll just have to register with these freelance websites and start bidding the price for the service that you provide.

In all, there are many more businesses on the internet that you can do. Some require products to sell. Some don’t.

Personally, I prefer to sell my own and other people’s products. The latter is easier since I don’t have to deliver the products or handle customer issues. What I need to do is sell other people’s products to any customers on the planet and get a percentage on the sale commissions.

Your Role In SFI - Being A Sponsor: What It Means

First and foremost: Be a friend! And be a mentor!

SFI's job is to provide the infrastructure for building your business. YOUR JOB, as a sponsor to those individuals you have personally recruited to join your team, is to provide the personal, one-on-one relationships so vital to your home-business success.

Make sure every AFFILIATE you sponsor has gone through the SMART START program at least once. Assist them after they've gone through this information! Make sure their questions are answered. GETTING STARTED IS THE HARDEST PART OF ANY JOURNEY. Your job as a sponsor is to be available to your team members. Make sure that you are there to offer friendly guidance and support in a timely manner as your personally sponsored affiliates start out on their journey.

Note! NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, at least half of your affiliates will NOT become successful.

This is not reflection of you or SFI. It's just the hard, cold reality that most people will not make the commitment and do the work necessary to succeed. Accept and acknowledge this.

ALL WE CAN DO IS GIVE PEOPLE A TRACK TO RUN ON. WE CANNOT, HOWEVER, DRAG THEM ACROSS THE FINISH LINE!! They have to want it.

In short, support your affiliates, be there for them as much as you can (especially at the start), but don't waste time trying to get people to do something who clearly aren't motivated.

Instead, and this is VERY IMPORTANT—when you identify someone on your team who IS motivated, someone who IS willing to learn and apply themselves to achieve success, CONNECT WITH THEM WITHOUT DELAY! These are diamonds in the rough! Make sure they have everything they need. Support them with passion! If you do so, someday they may make you rich!
